Background: Inflammatory bowel disease is a chronic disease that requires complex treatment. Due to the various treatments proposed and the gradual improvement of specialists, it is necessary to provide care according to standards and guidelines. This study investigated the relative frequency of implementing standard diagnostic and therapeutic wards for patients with inflammatory bowel disease in Isfahan in 1400.
Method: In the present descriptive cross-sectional study, 199 patients from the list of patients registered in the Non-Governmental Association of Patients with IBD, the database of patients with inflammatory bowel disease at Isfahan University of Medical Sciences and Poursina Hakim Gastroenterology Research Center and doctor's offices. Randomly selected questionnaires were completed in the mentioned centers or doctors' offices based on phone calls. The chi-square test was used to examine the statistical relationship between contextual variables and compliance with standards, and SPSS23 software was used to analyze the data.
Result: Most care, such as vitamin level control, assessment of kidney function, recommendation of liver tests, CBC control, and colonoscopy, has been done in all cases. At the same time, items such as bone densitometry, the recommendation to perform an eye examination and specialized eye examination, skin examination and specialized skin examination, sun care, quitting smoking, and seeing a psychiatrist were done in limited cases.
Conclusion: The results show a gap between the care provided to patients with inflammatory bowel disease and the relevant standards, indicating the points that need improvement and severe attention from the authorities.
